Privacy Notice
MomentWithUs.com is a personal project, not a commercial enterprise. This notice explains what information is collected, how it is used, and your rights regarding your data. It is written in plain language because you deserve to actually understand it.
The Short Version
- We collect only what's needed to build and host your celebration page.
- We use Google Analytics to see general traffic stats (how many people visit). That's it.
- We don't sell, share, or monetize your data. Period.
- You can request deletion of your data at any time.
What We Collect
Information You Provide
When you request a celebration page, you may provide:
- Your contact information: Name, email address, and optionally a phone number — used only to communicate with you about your page.
- Celebration content: Names, biographical text, photos, event details, color and style preferences, and any other content you submit for your page.
- Payment platform details: If you choose to include a Giving section, you provide your usernames or links for platforms like Venmo, CashApp, PayPal, or Zelle. These are displayed on your page as-is — we do not store payment credentials or financial account information.
- Your consent: When you agree to the Terms of Use and Privacy Notice, a record of your agreement is stored along with a timestamp.
Information Collected Automatically
- Google Analytics: MomentWithUs uses Google Analytics to collect anonymized, aggregate traffic data — things like how many people visit the site, which pages they view, what devices and browsers they use, and general geographic regions (country/state level, not specific addresses). This data is used solely for the site operator's personal curiosity about how the site is performing. It is not used for advertising, marketing, profiling, or any other commercial purpose.
Google Analytics uses cookies to collect this information. You can learn more about how Google handles data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. - Server logs: The hosting provider (Netlify) may automatically collect standard server log data such as IP addresses, browser type, and access times. This is standard for any website on the internet and is controlled by the hosting provider's own privacy policy. The site operator does not actively review or use this data.
What We Do NOT Collect
- Payment or financial information (credit cards, bank accounts, etc.)
- Government-issued identification numbers
- Passwords (there are currently no user accounts)
- Location data beyond what Google Analytics provides at a general level
- Data from minors knowingly (see "Children's Privacy" below)
How We Use Your Information
Your information is used for the following purposes and nothing else:
- To build and host your celebration page — Your submitted content is used to create your page and display it to visitors.
- To communicate with you — Your email and/or phone number may be used to send you a preview, confirm details, deliver your page URL and QR code, or follow up on your request.
- To understand site traffic — Google Analytics data is reviewed occasionally to see general usage patterns. This is purely informational and not tied to any individual.
- To improve the service — Feedback you provide may be used to improve MomentWithUs for future users.
What We Don't Do With Your Information
To be completely clear:
- We do not sell your information to anyone.
- We do not share your information with third parties for marketing or advertising.
- We do not use your information for targeted advertising.
- We do not build profiles about you.
- We do not use your photos or content for any purpose other than your celebration page (and, with your explicit permission, as a service example).
How Your Information Is Stored
- Celebration page content (text, photos, HTML files) is stored in a private GitHub repository and served through Netlify's global content delivery network. Both platforms use industry-standard security practices.
- Your contact information (name, email, phone) is stored in a private tracking spreadsheet accessible only to the site operator.
- Consent records (your agreement to the Terms of Use and Privacy Notice) are recorded with a timestamp in the intake form response log.
- Google Analytics data is stored and processed by Google under their data retention policies.
Data Retention — What Happens When Your Page Comes Down
When your celebration page is removed — whether because the hosting period ended, you requested removal, or the service is discontinued — your data is handled as follows:
- Celebration content is permanently deleted. Your photos, biographical text, and page files are removed from the hosting platform, code repository, and any local copies. Once deleted, this content cannot be recovered.
- A 30-day grace period applies. After your hosting period ends, your page goes offline but your content is retained for 30 days. During this time you can request reactivation or a copy of your files. After 30 days, permanent deletion occurs.
- Basic business records are retained. Your name, email address, event type, service dates, and payment history are retained for internal recordkeeping. These records are never shared with anyone and are used only for service administration and improvement.
- Code and design templates may be retained. The underlying code structure and design patterns created during the building of your page are the work product of MomentWithUs. Retained templates are fully scrubbed of all personal content — no names, photos, or identifying information are kept.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data: You can ask what information we have about you at any time.
- Correct your data: If anything on your page or in our records is inaccurate, let us know and we'll fix it.
- Delete your celebration content: You can request that your celebration page be taken down and your personal content (photos, bio text, page files) deleted. Deletion is typically completed within 30 days. Note that basic business records (name, email, event type, dates) may be retained as described above.
- Download your content: Before your page is removed or during the 30-day grace period, you can request a copy of your page files and photos for your own records.
- Withdraw permission for example use: If you previously agreed to let us use your page as an example, you can withdraw that permission at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email address below.
Third-Party Services
MomentWithUs uses or links to the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy that governs how they handle data:
- Netlify (hosting): netlify.com/privacy
- GitHub (code/content storage): docs.github.com/en/site-policy/privacy-policies
- Google Analytics (traffic data): policies.google.com/privacy
- Payment platforms (Venmo, CashApp, PayPal, Zelle, etc.): Linked from celebration pages at the user's request. MomentWithUs has no involvement in transactions on these platforms.
Children's Privacy
Requesters must be 18 or older. All persons submitting content through the intake form or other methods must be at least 18 years of age. MomentWithUs does not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 18.
Celebration pages may feature minors. A parent, guardian, or authorized adult may request a celebration page that features a minor (such as a child's birthday or a teenager's graduation). In these cases, the adult is the user of the service and is responsible for ensuring they have appropriate authority to share content involving the minor. The minor themselves does not interact with the service or provide personal information.
If you believe personal information has been submitted by someone under 18 without an authorized adult's involvement, please contact us and we will address it promptly.
Changes to This Notice
This privacy notice may be updated from time to time. Changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date at the top. For active celebration page owners, reasonable effort will be made to notify you of significant changes.
